Meet our Digital Copywriter, Mandy!

Meet our newest Digital Copywriter, Mandy! She is bubbly, friendly and always up for a chat. Today we sit down and ask Mandy about her fashion journey and any tips and tricks she may have. Stay tuned, she has some good advice!
What do you do? What does a normal day look like?
Everyday is a bit different for me, but my weekly tasks generally stay the same! As the Digital Copywriter my main task is to create the product names and write the product descriptions. At Hello Molly we receive 100 new arrivals per week, so this job is full on! I also manage the Hello Molly Facebook and LinkedIn page so once a week I like to plan and schedule the content for the week ahead. My other tasks include writing all the blogs for the website, helping out with EDM copy and writing the captions for all the Instagram posts. I also love jumping into a Tiktok here and there!
Tell us about your background and how you got here?
Last year, I finished my degree at the University of Technology Sydney, studying a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Journalism/ Public Relations. From a young age, I was always dreaming of living in the big city of New York and working in fashion and as I got older I just continued to work my butt off to get into the industry. Straight after high school I knew what degree I wanted to do, so I studied straight away and then interned all through university - it was the best time ever!
How did you score a job in the fashion industry? Any tips?
INTERNSHIPS. INTERNSHIPS. INTERNSHIPS. I cannot stress this enough! Gaining as much experience as possible, especially whilst at university is the best thing for not only your resume but building relationships and understanding exactly what you want to do. I was lucky enough to intern in glossy magazines, ecommerce, PR agencies and small beauty/fashion businesses. Another hot tip is LinkedIn! Build your profile, connect with people and even reach out to brands or people who are in your dream position! I knew I wanted to be in fashion or beauty but without all my experience and connections I wouldn't be where I am at such a young age.
What is your favourite part about your job?
My favourite part would have to be coming into the office and working with a close knit team who all have such similar and close minds. When we have meetings and chats our ideas just bounce off each other and together we can come up with such good projects and ideas! It’s great to be around women who are just as passionate and ambitious as you are everyday.
If you had to pick one piece of clothing that best describes you, what would you pick?
Gold dainty jewellery. I have my staple pieces that I wear every single day no matter what! If I am going to a formal event or just a casual brunch I will always be in them. I think these not only spice up a whole look but jewellery in general is such a beautiful thing as they generally all have a special meaning to them. A lot of my everyday pieces have been gifted from milestone achievements, birthdays and anniversaries so all very special times that I can remember everyday while looking stylish af! Oh, and I can’t forget a blazer! I have one in almost every colour - whoops.
What is your number one styling tip?
My number one styling tip would have to be to invest in buying a steamer. This is an ultimate game changer! It's quick and easy and will make your linen pieces look sleek all season long. Another tip I would have is, PURCHASE STAPLE ITEMS! Purchase staples that will last through every season and are super comfortable and cute. This will help you not only financially but can allow you to have 57845 different outfits without anyone knowing, just swap a few things around and your set!
