Loungewear Staples To Wear Now *and* Later

Even though we're all back at work, the novelty of wearing something cosy and comfy during our downtime is still yet to wear off, especially as it's winter. To be honest, we've embraced this vibe with open arms, and really pumping out the loungewear exclusives. Since then, we've been thinking about how we can maximise our fave loungewear staples, now that the social distancing laws have relaxed in some areas of Australia.

Here's how we're styling our top fave loungewear edits at home, on the streets, and in the office!

The Basic Cropped Tee

Whether you opt for long sleeves or short sleeves, a cropped tee is three levels up from your basic T-shirt and your old-time fave pyjama set. We're particularly obsessed with the cropped boxy silhouette style, teamed with high-rise booty shorts. It's so effortless to put on and gives off some serious retro sports vibes, which we're all for at Hello Molly HQ! Furthermore, it makes the perfect outfit for low-level hikes on those casual grocery runs. Cute, comfy, and practical!

Depending on our vibe, we'd team our cropped tees with high-rise shorts and joggers for a day at home. If it's a luncheon with friends, we'd team the tee with skinny fit denim, mules, and a matching cross-body. Show off that midriff!

The Biking Shorts

Athleisure is such a huge trend- probably because it mixes that loungewear sensibility with that street cred edge! We certainly jumped on the bandwagon with the biking shorts. An oldie, but a goodie, fitted bikini shorts were immortalised by 80s fashion icon Princess Diana, and we've been making the most of them from the home to desk! High-rise biking shorts cup the booty in all the right ways while avoiding any unnecessary wedgies when working out, or sitting down. Plus, they make a great option for babes who aren't keen on showing too much thigh.

When it comes to styling, we prefer to go for the pared-back approach when it comes to styling Biking Shorts. Always go for a loose-fitting tee or sports bra to contrast the slim-line fit of the shorts.

The Athleisure Hoodies + Joggers

We're tearing a page from Hailey Bieber's books and embracing the sweater/hoodie and joggers combination. More street style edge to add to this loungewear lookbook! It's effortlessly 90s and retro, and gives off that 'I just worked out', or 'I woke up like this, and I actually have my life together' kind of vibes that we all aspire to be. Furthermore, hoodies and joggers are transeasonal, suitable for any off-duty occasion. Wear them while you're travelling, and you're guaranteed comfort on the 17hr flight. Wear them at-home while binge-watching a rerun of Friends. Hoodies and Joggers are society's version of turning up to work in your pyjamas.

On a day to day basis, you can't get over with the classic hoodies and joggers combination. It's your one-and-done co-ord that's stress-free and effortless.

The Faux Shearling Set

Something a little more out-there, but just as comfy and cosy as our other edits. We've currently been obsessed with fluffy finishes and shearling as it's wintertime. It's just like wearing a blanket on your body. The more shapeless and loose-fitting the look, the more vibey the off-duty edit

The key to wearing these fluffy sets is to dress up your vibe. Instead of the classic navy's and dark shades (PJ colours), we're opting for bright shades of sherbet pinks, oranges, and yellows to make the sets more wearable. Dress up your look by teaming the tee and shorts with statement slides or sneakers. Try accessorising with chunky jewellery and a standout cross-body bag.

The Tee Dress

Let's start off easy; the tee dress. A classic tee dress will have the traditional features of a t-shirt, including the short sleeves, the high crewneck along with a soft jersey fabric style. At Hello Molly, we like to keep our hemlines high, and silhouettes pared-back so we can accessories and layer to our heart's content. It's one of those easy, throw on at room edits which you'll still feel great in, no matter what the occasion.

We'd probably keep things simple by teaming them with flats, sneakers and a denim jacket layered on top. Juxtaposing fabrics and textures work really well for a put-together, off-duty look.
