Hottest Spring/Summer 2015 Colour Trends

Wondering which colours would make you look fresh and trendy this spring? To help you choose only the hottest pieces for the upcoming season, HelloMolly asked several influential fashion bloggers to combine pieces from our new collection and create a trending colour collage you can use as a guide to looking trendy during the upcoming sunny months. We would like to use the opportunity to thank Paula, the author of The LDN Diaries, Melanie Galea, who stands behind the popular The Street Muse blog, Hannah Rogers or The Modern Girl, wonderful Sue Levy from South Africa and Tina Abeysekara of Trash to Treasured and Arizona Girl Shelly Stuckman for helping us on this little project.

These girls are always in touch with the latest fashion trends, so we don’t doubt you’d take their advice! But first, let’s see what this season is going to be about. Spring trends and colours Spring is the time of the year associated with the rebirth of nature and reawakening of the senses as another natural cycle begins. Correspondingly, spring fashion most frequently includes bright colours, flowery designs and comfortable pieces of clothes that make you feel free and active, and have that airy feel most associated with the season.

This year, the hottest combinations will feature cool colours and flower patterns, particularly those reminiscent of the 1970s fashion trends that have recently dominated the runways. The era of denim, suede, floral prints and soft colours is back, though in a slightly different form. When it comes to colours, however, Pantone Fashion Color Report for spring 2015 announces a move toward softer and cooler colours, while “eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take centre of the stage.” Indeed, such colours will make any Spring/Summer outfit trendy, and below are our suggestions for combining them. Hopefully, they will inspire you to mix and match, and create your very own fashion statement!

Florals and floaty seventies

Paula Holmes (@theLDNDiaries) has been writing about all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle for years and her knowledge of the latest trends is certainly something that makes her an incredible fashion adviser. When it comes to the Spring/Summer season of 2015, Paula sees it as the one that is “all about florals and floaty seventies vibes.” When browsing through the HelloMolly offer, she chose a white boho style shift dress with red floral print and a pair of sparkling rose gold strappy heels: "This dress covers both those trends and would look great this summer with these rose gold sandals. Pair with stacked bangles and a fedora or tasselled bag!" Now that would make an awesome look, wouldn’t it?

Hippie happiness

Another awesome fashion suggestion comes right from Italy, where a Malta-born fashion blogger Melanie Galea (@melaniegalea)covers street style fashion. Correspondingly, her combination resembles the timeless hippie style that will look great on anybody this summer. Namely, she chose delicate, loose fitting At Last white dress in combination with soft suede ankle boots: “70s fashion is back this summer.

Stay on trend with hippie fashion at its finest at https://www.hellomolly.com/, where you can get the perfect look. White dress paired with Kilda boots and beaded accessories to channel the jet-set scene of ‘70s Marrakech,” adds Melanie.

Emphasizing the silhouette: matching tight and lose

Similar to what’s suggested in the colours report mentioned above, Hannah Rogers (IN: themoderngirl) plans “on channelling Inner autumn colours such as cream, camel, navy, hunter green and grey this season.” As for her advice to our readers, she chose fitted First Kiss skirt camel and loose fitting She Wolf top navy. “The First Kiss Skirt in Camel will help take your look from day to night with a loose top, the She Wolf top, in navy, (tucked in) not only contrasting in colour but also giving a relaxed feel,” explains Hannah, adding that, “My rule of thumb if you are wearing a tight item of clothing it is a good rule to balance it out with an item that's not as form fitting. This will balance the outfit.” Hannah also notes that this is the combination you can wear in different occasions and combine it for more sophisticated looks: “The bodycon skirt is a very functional and versatile item meaning you can dress it up or down taking it from day to night with ease. For a sophisticated look add a nude pump, for something a little more casual I would recommend a chunky grey cardi.”

Feminine pastels

Tina Abeysekara (IN: trashtotreasured), a young professional with an extraordinary talent for finding not only a great piece of clothes, but also a good bargain chose a pastel colour palette. Her choice are fitted white lace Never Been Kissed dress and a pair of open toe nude heels: “My color palette of choice this spring/summer are cool whites set off by nude and pastel tones. Nude heels are the perfect partner for short skirts as they give the illusion of elongating the leg - a handy tip for any spring/summer look! Pastel shades are great as an alternative from the typical 'florals for Spring' mantra as the soft colors add a touch of femininity even when paired with bold patterns.”

Boho prints are going to be huge

Shelly Stuckman, a true Arizona Girl known for her unique “trendy and adventurous” style, suggests that “for spring/summer 2015 colorful earth-toned boho prints are going to be huge.” She also puts an emphasis on colours and tones that reflect those that could be found in nature.

“I don't think the neon trend is big this year like last year, but rather more natural colors such as army green, deep red, true orange, light ivory, and bold brown are this year's trend.  Due to the popularity of music festivals, bohemian and gypsy aesthetics have become the "it" look.  I myself am a boho fan.  From HelloMolly, I love their Free Spirit Maxi Dress paired with their SOLES St Kilda Boots Black.  The look is on point with boho inspired patterns and earthy coloring.  The outfit is also very versatile; I can see any girl rocking this look to lunch with friends, shopping at the mall, or a fun date night.  Finish it off with a fringe purse, and you're ready for a great adventure!"

Classy and fabulous

It was Coco Chanel who said: Ladies should be Classy and fabulous. Sue Levy (@Sue_Levy), an award-winning motivational lifestyle blogger from South Africa and a media professional who loves to encourage women to be comfortable in their own skin feels that “HelloMolly is a perfect website for all those classy fashion lovers.” Sue loves fashion and enjoys learning about new trends and her foundation is called: Inspirational Women International. She chose three distinct pieces from our offer, adding ideas to combine them for specific occasions.

 Red

dress

If you think red gives off serious sultry vibes, this dress is a perfect selection with it's sexy V neckline. The Spring runways are about to change your mind. This season, the shade was used on ornate capes at Dolce & Gabbana, translated to silk dresses at Zac Posen, Topshop Unique and Carolina Herrera, and made even casual separates look regal.

 Flirty Floral

playsuit

This floral piece features a low v neckline with a ruffled hem at the base of the shorts. The colours allow this jumpsuit to be worn during the day and into the night. The spaghetti straps are adjustable to suit your body which is perfect for those that normally can’t fit into jumpsuits due to them being too short.

Easily worn with a statement necklace or paired with a bohemian cap and Nude heels and you have the perfect outfit for spring.

Nude Heels

One of the tricks of the (stylist) trade that went a bit to the wayside once platforms and wedges became the object of desire for fashion girls everywhere is the magic of a great nude heels. The reason these lightly hued, pointed, or open toed high shoes have the juju is their ability to immediately elongate the leg, thereby making the wearer appear taller and thinner — an illusion we'll take all day. The nude pump is officially back and it's more demure and fashion forward — creating legs for days all over town. In a casual stroll or a special night out, these outfits will make you look just perfect. Make sure you’ve chosen the one that best suits your personality and you’ll feel great too!
